‘Blink of an Eye’ short film to address heroin deaths

The Buffalo Police Department, in cooperation with Mayor Byron Brown and local filmmakers, is set to produce a short film targeting heroin use deaths.

With heroin-related deaths climbing to staggering heights, Mayor Brown and BPD Captain Steve Nichols have partnered with local filmmakers to produce a short film titled “Blink of an Eye.”

“Blink of an Eye” is about a typical teenage girl who falls prey to heroin addiction. The audience will be thrust into the depths of the demon drug and the people that chase it. Plus, we will witness firsthand the extent to which our civil servants go to to save the lives of fellow citizens.

Principal photography for this short film will take place Feb. 6-7 on the streets of Buffalo by a local film crew that is donating their time and production equipment.

In the end of this dark dramatic presentation we hear from drug users, surviving family member of an overdose victim and a law enforcement officer who tries to save these people daily. The person you will see at the end of this story will be put in rehabilitation and we will follow his progress and keep you updated on his recovery.

“This short film is devastating but real life for many people. This is another way we can combat this life-threatening disease in our community,” said Mayor Brown.

“We understand this is a horrible look into one of the biggest killers of this century and it is uncomfortable for the viewer. Our hope is that we can touch a life and have that life be saved,” said Captain Nichols.
