Buffalo Bandits to host Unyts Blood Drive this Saturday

Apr 14, 2016 | Sports Scene

The Buffalo Bandits will host a Unyts Blood Drive on Saturday, April 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Niagara Center. Each presenting donor will receive a pair of tickets to one of the remaining 2016 Bandits home games and will have an opportunity to meet the team’s mascot, Rax. Donors are invited to make an appointment for a prearranged time, but are also welcome to walk-in. Free parking will be available to all donors in the First Niagara Center ramp during the blood drive.

To make an appointment, call 512-7940 or visit www.unyts.org, click “DONATE BLOOD” and use Sponsor Code 000170. Donors must bring their photo ID and must be 17 years of age or older. Those 16 years of age may donate blood with parental consent.

Unyts is among the leading organ procurement organizations in the United States, and is one of only eight centers nationwide to house organ, tissue and eye procurement in one location. With the addition of the Community Blood Service in 2007, Unyts became the only organization of its kind nationwide. It works to assist donor families, coordinate the donation process and increase knowledge and awareness regarding organ, eye, tissue and blood donation across WNY.
