Nov 8, 2016 | Arts & Culture

From celebrating a Victorian Christmas to dining with Santa to enjoying a holiday tea with loved ones, Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village invites you to participate in their exciting events planned for the month of December.

Enjoy a menu full of Victorian Christmas recipes at the second annual “Taste of Christmas Past” from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. The evening’s program includes:
• Music by Dan Wilke, organ grinder, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
• 45-minute guided lantern tours of the village with one of BNHV’s costumed villagers (includes grounds and exterior of building) at 6:15 and 7:15 p.m.
• Music by the Hutchinson Family Revival from 7 to 9 p.m.
• Live auction at 8 p.m.
• Tree lighting ceremony and caroling on the historic bandstand at 8:15 p.m.
• Remaining auctions and raffles after tree lighting ceremony

The menu, created in partnership with Banchetti by Rizzo’s, includes a cash bar, hors d’oeuvres, entrees, desserts and coffee. Tickets are $60 per individual, $110 per couple or $400 for a table of eight. Reservations are due by Nov. 21.

Santa Claus is coming to Heritage Village! Families are welcomed to join Santa, Mrs. Claus and their merry elves for a pancake breakfast in the ballroom on Sunday, Dec. 4. The event features two dining times – 9:30 and 11 a.m. – with each breakfast lasting about an hour and fifteen minutes. The menu includes pancakes, sausage and beverages.

Throughout the morning feast, children are invited to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what they’d like for Christmas this year, and parents are invited to bring a camera and capture the moment. Tickets are $8 for non-members and $5 for members. Reservations are required.

A Victorian Holiday Tea will be available from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11. Traditional English tea will be served by the English Tea Ladies of Elma to accompany the menu including sandwiches, scones, meringue and quiche. All proceeds from the featured raffles will benefit the preservation of Heritage Village’s 11 historic buildings. Tickets are $30 per person. Reservations are required and must be made by Dec. 4.

Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village is located at 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst. For more information or to make a reservation for any of the upcoming events, please call 689-1440 or visit www.bnhv.org.
