Commentary: It takes only seconds to make vehicles safer and save lives

Every vehicle in the world today has a serious safety flaw. When a vehicle’s doors are opened at night, many times oncoming drivers cannot see that opened door. I have solved this issue, making it possible for every vehicle in the world — past, present and future — to benefit from Inview Vehicle Trim.

How did I create such a universal application and how does it work? While waiting at a railroad crossing in South Hampton, New York, one night, with the railroad gates down and vehicles lined up in front of my car, I noticed that I could still see the highly reflective tape from the railroad gates on both sides of the line of vehicles.

I used this same concept with an opened vehicle door, placing Inview Vehicle Trim on several new locations on the door to allow the opened vehicle door to be seen by oncoming drivers — even with a person partially blocking the door.

Why does it work? Most doors currently have a small reflector or light that can be blocked by a person standing in front of it. When Inview Vehicle Trim is added to a vehicle door in just seconds, the entire horizontal interior of lower edge of the vehicle door has fifty times more area than the commonly used single reflector or light. Therefore, even if partially blocked by an individual standing in front of the opened door, Inview Vehicle Trim will still allow more than 50 percent of the vehicle door to be seen at night by an oncoming driver.

Inview Vehicle Trim cannot be seen when the vehicle door is closed, giving it consumer acceptance. It is only seen, automatically and at the speed of light, at night when the vehicle door is opened and when it is needed. It is always effective because it is automatically illuminated by another vehicle’s headlights and can be seen from at least 1,000 feet away!

Will what I created eventually become a new global safety standard for all vehicles? The answer is yes because this system works perfectly every time it is needed to provide a visual warning to oncoming drivers.
