Creative summer fun continues at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery

Aug 4, 2017 | Arts & Culture

Summer may be winding down, but there’s no slowing down of activities scheduled at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, 1168 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca.

The present exhibit at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery is “Life is a Beach,” which runs through Aug. 25. If you love the beach, this exhibit is for you!

September’s exhibit at the gallery is “One Trip Three Rooms” with artists Suzanne Borowicz and Paulette Krakowski. The opening reception is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8.  This exhibit will feature collages with painted papers; each piece of paper used has been created using gelli prints, stencils, brushes, nature prints and more. The artists studied the process with Florida artist Elizabeth St. Hilaire last July during a three-day workshop at Keuka Lake. The results of this technique are varied in texture, color, design and composition. It’s a must-see exhibit!

Upcoming classes and workshops include Zentangle – Endless Cards with artist Kelly Barone from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9. Be creative and send a beautiful handmade card! Each card is a moveable, changeable kaleidoscope of patterns. Come learn to make these fun projects, incorporate Zentangle patterns and add to your tangle pattern collection. The cost is $35 and all supplies are included.

Two Little Gems is an acrylic painting class with artist Bernice Smith. It is being offered from 6 to 8 p.m. on two consecutive Tuesdays, Aug. 15 and 22. Join Smith in painting tiny gems that work well as extra show pieces, gifts or as treasures for a small space. You can spend all of your time on one project or start several to finish at home. The cost is $40.

Plein Air Painting with Bernice Smith will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19. This class is meant to get you comfortable with taking your work outdoors. If you are an indoor painter and want to experience the joy of working in nature, or if you are a new painter who wants a challenge, there is nothing like painting from “real subjects” and not just photos. The class is designed to make you comfortable and get you out there, and the cost is $45.

Acrylic Painting with Bernice Smith is a four-week course from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays from Sept. 12 through Oct. 3. This class is for beginner to intermediate students. Smith introduces many short exercises to start your creative juices. Do a small exercise to spur your creativity, paint what you prefer to paint, join in for a critique, work on your skills and add new skills while enjoying your painting time with friends!

All Laced Up is a new basket-weaving class that will be offered in September with Maureen Quale. A great basket that fits two bottles of wine will be crafted. The cost is $40 and all supplies are included.

Wine, Women & Art with artist Andrea Oswald is back for another evening of creative fun and a girl’s night out from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21. The ladies will be painting peacock feathers on blue wine glasses. All supplies and refreshments are included in the $30 cost.

There is a call for artists for Enjoy The Journey’s October exhibit, “Postcard Art.” Drop-off times are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 29-30. Each artist may enter six designs in any medium. Please visit the Artist’s Prospectus at www.etjgallery.com for more information.
