Elmwood Village Farmers Market lists July 14 highlights

Jul 8, 2018 | Events

The popular Elmwood Village Farmers Market, featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the corner of Elmwood Avenue and Bidwell Parkway in Buffalo’s historic Elmwood Village. A program of the Elmwood Village Association, the open-air market runs rain or shine through November.

Entertainment on July 14 will feature Brendan & the Strangest Ways from approximately 9:30 to 11 a.m. and La Marimba from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Hosting the market’s community group tables will be Sierra Club Niagara, West Side & Black Rock-Riverside NHS, Junior League of Buffalo and Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue.

Again this year, the market will act on its mission to provide increased access to fresh, healthy food by offering an EBT program. The market’s Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system allows individuals and families receiving public assistance to purchase products from eligible market vendors. Please visit the Elmwood Village Association tent for details.

“Double Up Food Bucks” is back for a fifth season. The program provides low-income individuals who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits with a $1 for $1 match — up to a $20 match — to purchase fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables. Please visit the market’s Elmwood Village Association table for details.

For more information on the market, please visit www.elmwoodmarket.org or follow the market on Facebook for frequent updates. The Elmwood Village Farmers Market: Always fresh, always seasonal, always local!
