Oct 31, 2017 | Arts & Culture

The holiday season will be on display at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery in West Seneca thanks to a variety of upcoming classes, exhibits and events.

November’s featured event, the Evans Art Guild Member’s Exhibit, will run from Nov. 1-25 with an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3. December’s gallery member’s exhibit, “The Artist & Their Subject,” opens on Nov. 29 and will run through Jan. 2. An opening reception will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, and will feature live music by Dana Eric Misenheimer.

An Acrylic Painting class with artist Bernice Smith will be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, Nov. 7, 14, 28 and Dec. 5. Participants will do a small exercise to spur their creativity, paint what they prefer to paint, join in for a critique, work on their skills, add new skills and enjoy painting with friends. This is a fun class where the critiques are meant to help and support you and your artwork. A supply list is available on the gallery’s website and the cost is $80.

Time in a Bottle with artist Paulette Krakowski takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16. Create a priceless yet personal Christmas ornament; the gallery will supply beads feathers, glass bottles, ribbon and more. Make it more personal by bringing in a printed out message created on your computer (message should be 2.5 inches wide to fit). Pretty papers will be provided if you wish to write or print your own personal message to someone. The cost is $25.

A Farmer Basket class with Maureen Quale will be offered from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21 and Monday, Nov. 27. A large bushel basket will be constructed with your choice of either leather or wooden handles. The finished product will be large enough for the hearth or beside a favorite chair. Give it as a gift filled with towels or pine cones … imagine the possibilities! The cost is $60.

Wine, Women & Art with artist Andrea Oswald will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30. Guests will create a pair of beautiful holiday wine glasses featuring a snowy evergreen tree and polka dot design. All supplies are included plus wine and tasty goodies, and the cost is $30.

An Alcohol Ink Ornament Class with artist Paulette Krakowski takes place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7. Participants will create five unique ornaments with multiple colors of inks and beautiful wires. Bring two of your favorite alcohol ink colors to class (Tim Holtz alcohol inks from Hobby Lobby or Michaels or Jacquard Piñata Alcohol Inks from Hyatt’s All Things Creative are recommended, or purchase online.) The cost is $20 per person.

A Wet Felted Vessel class with added surface details with fiber artist Suzanne O’Brien is on the schedule from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16. Different sized templates will be added to shake things up a bit if you choose not to do a circle design. O’Brien will supply all of the hand-dyed wool and silks for this wonderful vessel workshop. The wet-felted vessel will be constructed in the colors of your choosing. All supplies will be included for this workshop for a fee of $60 per person.

Entries are now being accepted for a January 2018 photo contest for amateurs and professionals alike. Participants may submit up to five entries and the cost is $20 per person. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: My Winter Shot, Love My Pet, Holiday Moment and My Favorite Place. Entries should be 8 x 10 inches, unframed, and flush-mounted on foam core board.
