Oct 5, 2018 | Arts & Culture

West Seneca’s Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, located at 1168 Orchard Park Road, has announced a wide variety of upcoming events, including a call for artists for their “Everyday Objects” exhibit. Open to all artists and mediums, this exhibit will highlight objects that we see every day – a bike, house, canister, fishing pole, camera, etc. Artwork is being accepted on Oct. 9 and 10 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers, and artists can submit up to three pieces. An opening reception is set from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19.

Basket Weaving Class with Maureen Quale will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23. The checker board basket is a roomy basket that you can complete with your choice of wood or leather handles. Surely to become a family heirloom, the cost for the class is just $60.

Zentangle Holiday Card with ZTC Artist Kelly Barone will be offered from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24. Want to add a little pop to your holiday? Learn the basic process for a pop card embellished with Zentangle designs. Guests will make great cards, place cards or interactive ornaments, and the cost is $25. Future classes are scheduled for Nov. 14 and Dec. 5.

Wine, Women & Art with artist Andrea Oswald takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25. Create a set of Halloween wine glasses just in time for the festivities! Bats, spider webs and a full moon are decorating this month’s glasses. The cost is $30 per person and reservations are required.

November’s exhibit, “Intuition,” is open to all artists who have taught at the gallery. Those who teach inspire others to tap into the right side of their brain and use their creativity. Sometimes we don’t always know how we inspire our students; they use critical thinking skills without even knowing it. Drop-off dates are Nov. 2 and 3, and an opening reception will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9. Artists who have taught at the gallery can submit two pieces of artwork for no charge.

December’s exhibit will be the Member’s Exhibit, and visitors will see acrylics, fiber art, watercolors, oil, pottery, pen and ink, photography and much more. Drop-off dates are Nov. 27 and 28, with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30. There is no charge for members to participate.
