Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery announces spring classes and events

Apr 11, 2018 | Arts & Culture

Spring is in the air at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery in West Seneca, where a Member’s Exhibit remains on display through Saturday, April 28. Enjoy artwork by local artists in clay, watercolor, acrylic, oil, mixed media, ink and more.

The gallery has also announced a call for artists for its May exhibit titled “Happiness.” We all want it. We all have different ideas of what it means. To some it requires being busy, involved, connected, purposed, fulfilled, loving or loved. To others being happy means feeling healthy, generous or successful. It seems to be entangled with our level of acceptance and expectation. What, where, when or who is your happy place? Share your happiness with words or imagery.

Entries may include 2/3 dimensional media such as paintings, drawings, photography, mixed media, clay, jewelry, fabric, sculpture, fiction, poetry, short stories and other written explorations (up to 900 words). Submissions must be original work.

Wine, Women & Art with artist Andrea Oswald will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19. The group will be working on two cherry blossom glasses. All of the art supplies, wine and food are included in the evening. You must register ahead of time with a credit card to save a seat, and the cost is $30 per person.

Esty Workshop for Artists: For the Beginner to an Already Participating Artist with Sara Goldhawk will be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26. Everyone is looking to make a little money these days, and if you happen to be crafty or an artistic person, this workshop will give you the tools you need to set up an online shop on Esty to sell your artwork and handmade items. Learn how to create a virtual shop, take photos, promote, price and sell your work across the U.S., Canada and beyond! All you need is a computer, a camera and some creativity. The cost for this informative class is $30.

Studio & Group Acrylic Painting with Bernice Smith is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 25, 22 and 29. Studio is for those who have taken the beginner class and feel ready to move on, or seasoned painters who want to work more on their own personal growth. The goal is to grow in your knowledge, share a kind critique and bring new ideas to the group. The supply list is available on the gallery’s website, and the cost is $80 for the four-week course.

Wine, Women & Art with Andrea Oswald returns again from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10. This class will feature a colorful flower design on two wine glasses. All supplies are included and the cost is $30 per person. Reservations are required.

A Divided in Two Basket Class with Maureen Quale is set for 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 11. This basket design has tons of functionality, so use your imagination! Featuring a solid wood base and handle and finished with “Cherokee Wheels,” it’s a great beginner basket yet perfect for all levels of weaving. The cost of this class is $40.

Also featuring a beautiful gift shop, Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery is located at 1168 Orchard Park Road. For more information, please call 675-0204, visit www.etjgallery.com or email in**@et********.com.
