Aug 7, 2018 | Events

Through Aug. 31, Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery in West Seneca will host “Moments,” a collection of themes — watercolor, acrylics, mixed media, photography and more — all in one exhibit.

The gallery has also issued a call for artists for a September exhibit, “Inspiration from the Heart — A Tribute to Pop Artist Jim Dine. Open to all mediums, artists may submit up to three pieces of art per the artist prospectus available at etjgallery.com/calls-for-work.

A Mono-printing with Gelli Plate workshop will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 and 28, with artist and gallery owner Paulette Krakowski. Monotype is a form of printmaking that has lines or images that can only be made once, unlike most printmaking which allows for multiple originals. It’s a simple process that allows for lots of experimentation and variation. The artist can create layered prints, use objects as masks between plate and paper or selectively apply pressure to create a trace monotype. The cost is $45.

Wine, Women & Art with Andrea Oswald is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23. Everyone has a birthday, so participants will create two birthday wine glasses. It’s a great gift for someone special in your life! A fun “girl’s night out” with creativity, wine, snacks and all art supplies included, the cost is just $30.

Oswald’s September class will be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20. Guests will create two wine glasses with polka dot designs for a fun and funky look!

Acrylic Painting with artist Bernice Smith takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 11, 18 and 25. This will be a great evening of techniques, tips and supportive critiques. Open to beginner to advanced students, participants are asked to bring highly contrasting photo reference, acrylic paints, brushes, paper towels and substrate (canvas, canvas board, panel boards). The cost is $80.

Bean Pot Basket with Maureen Quale is slated from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12. The Bean Pot is a classic basket created with twined base. The technique is continuous weaving so it goes quick! Fill your basket with fruit or dried flowers or hang it from a peg for a country accent. The cost is $40.

Holiday Zentangle Cards with CZT artist Kelly Barone is from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, Oct. 24, Nov. 14 and Dec. 5. The holidays will be here before you know it, so join Barone this fall for a series of card classes. Guests will make a tangled greeting card at each class, which would also be suitable for framing or gift giving. The Zentangle 101 class is encouraged but not required. The cost is $25 per class, or book all four classes for $90.

Bead Embroidery Necklace for Beginners with artist Lisa Ballowe will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29. This is a great beginner class that will teach you how to make a beautiful pendant by sewing beads around a cabochon. No prior experience is necessary, and students will leave with a completed pendant. This class will help in creating the foundation for future bead embroidery classes. The cost of this class is $50. A materials kit fee of $15 is not included in the tuition and is due to the instructor on the day of class. The kit will include a cabochon glued to the beading medium, beads, thread, needle and instructions. Students are encouraged to bring magnification glasses and a portable light. The instructor will provide beading mats and glue which will remain with her after the class.
