Fall art activities planned at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery

Sep 6, 2017 | Arts & Culture

A wide variety of interesting classes and exhibits are upcoming during the fall season at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, 1168 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca.

“One Trip and Three Rooms” is an exhibit of collages created using painted papers by artists Paulette Krakowski and Suzanne Borowicz. This exhibit takes collage artwork to another level; it was a year in the making after the artists took a summer workshop last year from internationally known artisan Elizabeth St. Hilaire. The opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, and the exhibit will remain on display through Sept. 30.

Enjoy The Journey has also issued a call for artist for their October exhibit titled Creative Smalls – Postcard Art. Open to all artists and mediums, artists may submit up to six pieces of 6×4 or 4×6-inch unframed artwork. Drop-off dates are Sept. 29-30 and the cost is $30 per artist. A prospectus is available at www.etjgallery.com.

An Acrylic Painting class with Bernice Smith will be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evenings, Sept. 12, 19, 26 and Oct. 3. Smith will give you many hints while working with acrylics, and short exercises are often incorporated into the class as well. This class is open to beginner and intermediate students and the cost is $80.

Basket Weaving with Maureen Quale takes place form 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13. The finished product will be perfect for holding two bottles of wine, a baguette and a wedge of Brie. Super versatile as a small market basket or a carry all, you can create a basket in your choice of colors. The cost is $40 and no previous experience is needed.

Endless Cards in Zentangle Patterns with artist Kelly Barone is planned from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20. Be creative and send beautiful handmade cards! Endless cards are a fun and unique project that can be used as a gift, as a card or for endless entertainment. Each card is a moveable, changeable kaleidoscope of patterns. Come learn to make these fun projects, incorporate Zentangle patterns and add to your tangle pattern collection!

Wine, Woman & Art with artist Andrea Oswald will be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21. A great girl’s night out, guests will create two wine glasses in a peacock feather design, sip some wine and taste some goodies. The cost is $30 per person. If you have six or more ladies, Oswald will do a private evening just for your group!

A Clutch Purse class with artist Suzanne O’Brien will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on two Thursday evenings, Oct. 12 and 19. Wet felting is a process by which wool roving transforms into a nonwoven textile, a felted fabric. With simple materials and a little hard work, participants will create a wool clutch purse made from hand-dyed Merino wool roving. This purse can be used to store small crafting notions or for your next night on the town! The cost is $50 and includes all supplies.

A Wet Felting Vessel Class with artist Suzanne O’Brien is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21. Create a beautiful wet felted vessel from wool in beautifully dyed colors. No experience is needed and you’ll have an amazing piece of artwork for your Thanksgiving table!  All supplies are included and the cost is $60 per person.
