Funds for home improvement projects are currently at their peak

Jan 15, 2017 | In the News

Tax season is right around the corner, and many homeowners are waiting to receive their annual refund check before beginning long-awaited home improvement projects such as the installation of new heating and cooling units, energy saving improvements, insulation, air sealing, new windows and more.

Rather than waiting and hoping for a sizable return, consumers could be taking advantage of multiple home improvement grant programs that are currently available to both homeowners and tenants.

“Several grant and funding programs that allow homeowners and tenants to maximize home improvement projects are currently available to all households across Western New York,” said Jim Stroehlein, co-owner of Prime Time Energy Services, 67 Sheldon Ave., Depew. “Everyone qualifies for some amount of assistance, so there’s really no reason to delay a project.”

For example, a family of four with an annual household income of less than $69,000 may qualify for a grant which will pay up to $4,000 toward energy saving improvements, Stroehlein revealed.

“Right now, there is more funding available to homeowners for home improvement projects than we’ve ever seen,” added co-owner Nick Cappelli. “We don’t use only one source of funding; we pursue any and all available programs for the homeowner. And when the project is complete, the property has greater value, which is an additional bonus for the homeowner.

“These grants and funding programs come and go, so now is the time to act if you want to maximize your savings. Depending on their circumstances, some homeowners are eligible for home improvement services at no final cost to them! It’s something that’s definitely worth looking into if you have any thoughts of improving your home and increasing its overall value.”
