History will be on display at the Buffalo Irish Center during the Collectors & Artisans Expo

Dec 15, 2017 | Arts & Culture

The historic Buffalo Irish Center will host the second annual Collectors & Artisans Expo taking place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10. Built in 1926, the well-known building in the heart of Buffalo’s Irish Heritage District is the perfect venue to host this event for many reasons.

Irish-Americans have had a huge role in the development of the City of Buffalo, and the building, surrounded by Irish-named streets, is filled with Irish heritage. Established by Irish immigrants as a social gathering place, over the years it has evolved into a unique heritage center focused on the Irish culture.

“We felt that an event built around handcrafted items and nostalgia needed to be held in a building that had historic significance,” said Joe Kirchmyer of West Seneca, organizer of the event. “And the timing of our event — just one week before St. Patrick’s Day — couldn’t be better. We hope all of Western New York will come out and experience Irish hospitality at its finest!”

The event will host dozens of vendors, and 100 percent of the $2 admission will benefit the Irish Center and two South Buffalo high school, Mount Mercy Academy and Bishop Timon – St. Jude High School.

Antique appraisals by Water Valley Antiques will be offered during the March event. The cost will be $2 per item, or a maximum of three appraisals for $5. Food will also be available for purchase during the event thanks to the Irish Center kitchen staff, and plenty of free parking is available in the Irish Center parking lot at 245 Abbott Road, along Abbott Road and on nearby neighborhood streets.

Vendor tables (handcrafted and collectible items only, please) are still available for the March 10 event. For more information, please contact Joe Kirchmyer at jk********@ve*****.net.
