Nearly 30 former football, baseball, basketball and hockey players — and two former heavyweight boxing champs — are scheduled to appear at the Sports Collectors Expo Nov. 5 and 6 in Batavia. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Batavia Downs Gaming Center, 8315 Park Road, Batavia.
Former Buffalo Braves scheduled to appear include Bob McAdoo, Nate “Tiny” Archibald and Ernie DiGregorio, as well as NBA greats Rick Barry and JoJo White.
Scheduled to appear from the Buffalo Bills are Joe Cribbs, Jeff Nixon, Jim Cheyunski, Chris Mohr, Butch Rolle, Steve Christie and Carwell Gardner. Other former NFL stars will include Bob Lilly, Kordell Stewart, Reggie Harrison, Jeff Reed, Mike Collier, John “Frenchy” Fuqua, Milt Plum and Mark van Eeghen.
Former Buffalo Sabres on the schedule include Grant Fuhr and Mike Robitaille.
Representing Major League Baseball at the event will be Ron Darling, Tim Redding, Joe Hesketh, Cecil Fielder and Dwight Gooden.
Rounding out the list of athletes scheduled to appear are former heavyweight boxing champions Leon and Michael Spinks.
Admission to the event, which will also feature numerous sports card and memorabilia dealers from across the country, is just $8. Children under age 10 will be admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. Individuals 18 and older will receive $7 in free play at the casino with the purchase of a ticket to the Sports Collectors Expo. Guests will also receive $3 off a $5 purchase of food or non-alcoholic beverages.
Additionally, paid admission will include one free autograph from Redding, Collier, Hesketh and Nixon.
