LGBT classic Loving Annabelle to show at North Park Theatre

May 18, 2018 | Arts & Culture

Buffalo native and actress Diane Gaidry got some news that shook her world in January. She was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer — and it was aggressive.

Feeling otherwise helpless, her best friend and family launched a crowdfunding campaign to help offset her mounting medical expenses. And now, North Park Theatre is joining the effort.

At 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 20, the historic theatre will screen Gaidry’s best-known film, Loving Annabelle. The 2006 film, directed by Katherine Brooks, is a coming-of-age tale about a boarding school student (Erin Kelly) who falls in love with her teacher (Gaidry).

North Park Theatre, located in North Buffalo at 1428 Hertel Ave., is generously donating all ticket sales to the crowdfunding campaign. The film’s distribution company is also donating the screening rights.

Presale tickets are now available for $15 on North Park Theatre’s website, or at the door the day of the screening. Every dollar raised will go toward Gaidry’s medical expenses. She will be present the day of the screening and available to speak with audience members. A short Q&A will also follow the film.
