Feb 6, 2018 | Entertainment

St. Martin of Tours and St. Thomas Aquinas churches in South Buffalo are co-sponsors of a Saturday, March 10 concert in the Buffalo Irish Center, 245 Abbott Road, featuring Bob Halligan Jr. and his Celtic rock band, Ceili Rain. Opening for Ceili Rain will be the Celtic duo Kindred.

The St. Patrick’s Blast-off Concert will begin at 7 p.m. and admission is $15. The event will also feature a Pot ’O Gold split club drawing! Tickets for both the concert and split club will be sold at the two parishes for three weeks prior to the event.

On Friday, March 9, Halligan will visit St. Leo the Great Church at 885 Sweet Home Road in Amherst for a presentation titled “God Done Good.” On this night, Halligan, one of Father Nelson Baker’s “Baker Boys,” will share his experience of being adopted through Our Lady of Victory Infant Home in Lackawanna some 60 years ago. The event will be hosted by Msgr. Robert Zapfel, pastor of St. Leo the Great Church.

Following a parish fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. Stations of the Cross led by Fr. Bill Quinlivan and featuring photo images of the magnificent marble stations at Our Lady of Victory Basilica in Lackawanna, Halligan will talk about his life from adoption through his successful career as a singer and songwriter at 7:30 p.m. Through song and tales, hear how he and his wife Linda also chose adoption for their family. There is no charge for the Stations of the Cross presentation and Halligan talk, but a free will offering will be taken.

During his career in the music industry, Halligan has written songs for Cher, Michael Bolton, Kathy Mattea and others.
