Cattaraugus County Pride Coalition (CCPC) will host Olean’s first Pride event on Sunday, July 8, from 1 to 5 p.m. This free family-friendly community picnic will occur at Lincoln Park in downtown Olean. Please bring a dish to share, chairs, lawn games and non-alcoholic beverages.
The event will feature stand-up comic Kelli Dunham performing at 3:30 p.m. There will also be live music by Leo WT at 2 p.m., as well as music by DJ Hendrix, glitter tattoos and kids’ activities. Bring clothes and household items in good condition for a Pride “free market” and clothing swap.
This flash Pride event is a direct result of the momentum gained by the Olean area LGBTQ community, which responded in large numbers to protests of the children’s drag queen story hour at the Olean Public Library on June 20. CCPC hopes to grow this event to a regional Pride celebration in future years, and to continue nurturing an active LGBTQ community in our region.
