St. Martin of Tours Church to host Thanksgiving musical event

Nov 6, 2017 | Entertainment

St. Martin of Tours Church in South Buffalo will host a free “Praise-A-Peel” music event at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22. The event will feature the music of Father Bill Quinlivan accompanied by a few other musicians and vocalists.

“The goal of the ‘Praise-A-Peel’ musical event is to prepare people for Thanksgiving,” said Fr. Quinlivan. “The event will also include a blessing of potato peelers and likely a telling of the story of how I once ended up in the emergency room as a result of preparing a small part of Thanksgiving dinner for my family.”

The musical event will also be a celebration of the release of Fr. Quinlivan’s most recent CD, “Jump For Joy!” featuring 12 original songs. Joining Fr. Quinlivan on the CD are singer/songwriter Bob Halligan Jr., two musicians from Party of Nine, cellist David Meyer of the Celtic duo Kindred, and two talented vocalists born and raised at St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy in Buffalo, Sydnie and Joanah Perkins.

A native of South Buffalo, he is a graduate of St. Teresa’s School, Bishop Timon High School and Buffalo State College in Buffalo and Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora.
