The Great Pumpkin Farm named one of the top ten pumpkin patches in America

Nov 25, 2015 | In the News

The Great Pumpkin Farm has been named one of the biggest and best pumpkin patches in America by The Daily Meal, an online culinary resource. Coming in as the fifth (out of 10) best pumpkin patch in the country, The Great Pumpkin Farm beat such notable farms as Roloff Farms in Oregon and Linvilla Orchards in Pennsylvania.

Size, family activities, on-site festivals, pick-your-own option and food were the main criteria for inclusion on the list, as well as having the largest selection of pumpkins, squash and gourds. According to the article, written by Daily Meal Editor Abbey Crain, “The fun festival activities set this fall farm aside from the rest. From regular costume competitions, pig racing, pie-eating contests and even a zombie mud run, this farm has something fun for every member of the family. The farm’s most extensive event is Oktoberfest, complete with food, entertainment and a raffle offering $15,000 worth of cash and prizes.”

“We’re honored to be considered one of the top five pumpkin patches in America,” says Kelly Schultz, proprietor. “We work very hard every year to make sure there are plenty of family-friendly events and activities throughout the seven-week Fall Festival, and we’re happy to be recognized for providing one of the most popular annual fall events here in Western New York!”

Giving back to the Western New York community

Each year, The Great Pumpkin Farm donates pumpkins gourds, cornstalks, corn and more to worthwhile causes throughout Western New York. This year, donations went to area churches, Brothers of Mercy, The Buffalo Zoo, the Starlight Foundation and Hospice Foundation, just to name a few.

“We get many requests each year and do our best to fulfill as many as we can,” says Schultz. “This year, for example, we donated tickets for organizations to use as fundraisers, we made cash donations and we donated a lot of food to the Clarence Food Pantry. It’s important to us to support the communities that have been so good to us.”

The Great Pumpkin Farm is located at 11199 Main St. in Clarence. For more information, visit www.greatpumpkinfarm.com.
