Unyts to host blood drive at Lackawanna Library

Jul 23, 2017 | Events

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon is partnering with Unyts and the Lackawanna Library to host a blood drive during a time of year when donations are historically low.

The event will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, July 31, at the Lackawanna Public Library, 560 Ridge Road, Lackawanna. Donations will be taken in the Donate Life Express Bus. To schedule an appointment, please visit www.unyts.org or call 512-7940.

“I want to thank Unyts and the Lackawanna Library for once again hosting a community blood drive to ensure that our hospitals have the supply they needs to treat patients. This is a convenient opportunity to stop in, make a donation and help save lives. This time of year many people are traveling, busy with vacations and might forget to donate regularly. I hope many residents will register to donate at this event,” said Legislator Dixon.

“The need for blood in our community is constant,” said Mark J. Simon, Unyts President & CEO. “Help Unyts make sure the supply meets the demand, because you never know when you or a loved one might need blood. I encourage everyone who can donate to participate.”

Unyts also promotes organ donor registration. For information on how to register as an organ donor in New York State, please visit www.dmv.ny.gov or www.health.ny.gov.
