Sit back and relax to the sweet sounds of an intimate choral Christmas at Vocális Chamber Choir’s presentation of A Vocális Christmas.
Concerts are at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 5480 Main St., Williamsville, and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 at Karpeles Manuscript Museum, 220 North St. at Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo.
“Choral music and the Christmas season are perfectly suited to each other,” says Vocális Director James Burritt. “Centuries of music have been written to celebrate the miracle that is this time of year. Hearing this music allows us to breath a little more calmly, and gives one a brief escape from the stresses of this world.”
Vocális draws from traditional and contemporary a cappella choral music for this concert in a program that includes favorites from the Renaissance to today. The choir sings works from Victoria, Byrd, Praetorius, Britten and Chilcott, as well as contemporary and traditional carols to entertain and set the tone for the holiday season.
Tickets are available at the door, one hour before the program; $15 for adults and $10 for students.
