The Niagara Frontier Auto Dealers Association (NFADA) is teaming up with New York State Police on Saturday, Sept. 29, to offer a free Car Seat Safety Inspection event. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Volkswagen of Orchard Park, 3524 Southwestern Blvd. Please bring your car seat and your child to this event to ensure proper seat installation.
On average, more than 50 percent of car seats currently in use are improperly installed and used, making motor vehicle accidents the leading cause of preventable death among U.S. children. Individuals with a new baby or a child graduating to the next stage of car seat are encouraged to attend and have their car seat inspected by a certified car seat installer to ensure correct installation and use.
Car seat inspections are also available year-round by appointment by calling the New York State Police at (585) 344-6200. The Sept. 29 event is open to the public and appointments are not required.
The NFADA is a trade association representing new car franchise dealerships in Western New York. For more information, please visit nfada.com.
