The West Seneca Chamber of Commerce and the GEICO Local Office in West Seneca are teaming up to offer a series of six lunchtime events in 2019 featuring a variety of interesting business speakers. The GEICO Power Lunch Series will be open to both Chamber members and nonmembers, and all events will take place from noon to 1 p.m. in the large meeting room in the West Seneca Community Center & Library located at 1300 Union Road.

Kicking off the speaker series on Tuesday, Jan. 15, will be Rosanna Berardi, managing partner of Berardi Immigration Law, a business immigration law firm. Berardi will provide the latest border updates including how a DWI can impact your entry to Canada, the legalization of marijuana in Canada, and how to protect your cell phone at the border.

On Tuesday, March 19, Susan McCartney, PhD, MBA, director of the SUNY Buffalo State Small Business Development Center, will talk about incentives and programs available locally to assist small business owners.

The third speaker in the series will be Jeff Surdej, owner of Surdej Web Solutions, who will discuss the basics of search engine optimization for businesses on Tuesday, May 21.

On Tuesday, June 18, the theme will be one-minute networking and attendees will each be given approximately one minute to discuss their businesses, and additional time to network.

Media veteran Brian Meyer, an award-winning journalist who’s experience includes many years at WBEN, WBFO and The Buffalo News, will discuss working with the media and forging effective media strategies on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

The final event in the series will be Senator Patrick Gallivan’s annual Small Business Summit, tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 8. This event will likely take place as a breakfast meeting, with more details to come.

Light refreshment will be provided at each meeting, and each event will also include Q&A with the speaker and an opportunity to network with other attendees. While the events are free and open to the public, seating will be limited and reservations are required.
