Bishop Timon – St. Jude High School in South Buffalo is excited to welcome 2006 Timon Man of the Year, Reverend Corey B. Gibson, as the next presenter in their yearlong speaker series at Timon. The event will take place at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17.
Rev. Gibson is Senior Pastor of Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Buffalo. After graduating from Timon, he went on to receive his Bachelor of Science from Virginia Union University, and a Master of Divinity Degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union. In 2017 he was ordained at the First Baptist Church of Vienna where he worked with youth of the community.
Rev. Gibson served as an elementary school teacher in the Richmond Public School System. In 2015, he was named “Teacher of the Year” for Chimborazo Elementary School. He also served as the Minister of Children and Youth. In 2018 Rev. Gibson was asked to serve as the seventh senior pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church of Buffalo. Here he continues his outreach and ministry in his hometown.
The Timon Speaker Series is a yearlong program sponsored by Ed Williams `63, Pamela Jacobs-Vogt, and Maureen Denman. The goal of the series is to bring a diverse group of speakers who will inspire, excite and challenge our Timon students with messages of overcoming adversity and tackling the challenges they may face when they move on from Bishop Timon.
