Bisons’ 22nd annual Independence Eve Celebration to honor heroes on the battlefield

Jun 10, 2016 | Entertainment

There are heroes all around us … on the playing field, on the big screen and most importantly, on the battlefields both near and far. On Sunday, July 3, at the Buffalo Bisons’ 22nd annual KeyBank Independence Eve Celebration, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra & Chorus will pay tribute to them all!

Just weeks away from the fan-favorite summer tradition at Coca-Cola Field, the Bisons and BPO announced the Independence Eve Concert Program for the post-game show following the game between the Bisons and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (6:05 p.m.).

As this marquee WNY event nears the half-million mark in attendance, BPO conductor Stefan Sanders makes his Independence Eve debut with a program designed to celebrate all our great heroes.

For those that paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom and liberty, the BPO and Chorus will perform Battle Hymn of the Republic, Overture 1812, and Stars & Stripes Forever. The great Independence Eve tradition of recognizing each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces will also continue with the Armed Forces Salute, where we will once again ask the brave men and women currently serving or retired to stand and be recognized by all fans in attendance.

We have heroes on the playing field as well, and in August will be cheering on the athletes that will be representing the United States of America at the 2016 Olympic Summer Games in Rio, Brazil. The BPO will honor those athletes with an Olympic fanfare arrangement.

For our heroes on the big screen, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will play tributes to some of the most iconic characters in cinema history. Movements celebrating Star Wars, Superman, and Batman will be accompanied by big board videos as well as special on-field surprises. There will also be a sing-along to one of Disney’s animated classics, Beauty and the Beast.

After the performance from the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, Bisons fans will be treated to the team’s largest fireworks show of the season!

KeyBank Independence Eve tickets are only $25 (a $2 savings off the day-of event price) and are on sale right now at Bisons.com, by calling 843-4373 or by visiting the Coca-Cola Field Box Office. Fans can bring the whole family out with the BPO 4-Pack that includes four reserved seat tickets, four Sahlen’s hot dogs, four Coca-Cola soft drinks and 25 percent off at the Bisons gift shops that night for only $110. Each BPO 4-Pack is a savings of $22.
