From hanging out with your favorite Jedi warriors to taking home the latest addition to your bobblehead collection, the Buffalo Bisons’ 2016 promotional schedule continues the team’s long-standing tradition of providing the best sports and family entertainment experience and value at every game.
The 2016 season, which begins in downtown Buffalo on Thursday, April 14 against the Rochester Red Wings (2:05 p.m.), features 72 games of great events, fun giveaways and popular theme nights to help the fans of Western New York and Southern Ontario to once again “Seize the Season” at Coca-Cola Field this year.
All the can’t-miss events are back, including Opening Day on April 14 with Magnetic Schedule Giveaway, presented by I-Evolve Technology, the 22nd Annual KeyBank Independence Eve Celebration with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus on July 3, Star Wars Night Episode IX, presented by Alfred State College, on July 23 and Fan Appreciation Night on Sept. 1 to close out the season.

Fun ballpark traditions, both old and new, fill the team’s event calendar. The fourth installment of Blue Jays Weekend, presented by Samuel Son & Co. Inc. on May 21-22, will feature a bobblehead giveaway (to be announced) and a Blue Jays pennant giveaway. The Bisons’ Mystery Ball, presented by Beechwood Continuing Care, enters its ninth year on Aug. 16 and School Kids Day with a morning start returns on June 1, presented by Alfred State College and NY’s 529 College Savings Program.
Two events that will make their return after receiving tremendous fan response in their debuts in 2015 are Superhero Night on Aug. 27, presented by NCCC, and Pirate and Princess Day on July 31.
Of course, one of the longest-running ballpark tradition, the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino fridaynightbash! series with post game fireworks, highlights any Bisons schedule. There are 10 fridaynightbash! games this summer, including six in nine weeks from July 1 through Aug. 26. Each fridaynightbash! will feature the Flying Bison Happy Hour and post-game fireworks.
The Bisons event schedule features promotions that will get you moving, like Play Catch Under the Lights with Baseball Giveaway on July 19, presented by I Luv My Smile, Family Campout Night on July 29 and Family Carnival Day on Aug. 14. There will also be great chances to take home some souvenirs with Foul Ball Night on May 6, trucker cap giveaway on June 22, camo jersey giveaway on June 30, Team Photo and Autograph Day on July 24 and a second bobblehead giveaway (to be announced) on Aug. 10.
There’s great nights to have fun, like Top Gun Night on May 20, Zombie Night on July 8 and the XPOGO Stunt Team Appearance on Aug. 12, and great nights to pay tribute, with Memorial Day Celebration on May 30, presented by Keller Chevrolet, Youth Baseball Day on June 12, presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Turn the Park Pink Night on July 30. The team’s Festival Night series continues with Irish Night (June 21), Italian Night (July 21) and Polish Night (Aug. 9), presented by Unyts. And don’t forget about great value, with the popular Buster’s Kids Club Sundays after afternoon Sunday games, Markdown Mondays and 2-for-1 Tuesdays throughout the season.
