Buffalo Jazz Collective plans concert series

The Buffalo Jazz Collective, the premier not-for-profit jazz organization in Western New York, launches their inaugural concert series, “Jazz on 2nd Sundays,” this fall at the Buffalo History Museum. Beginning this month, concerts will be held on the second Sunday of each month at 2:30 p.m. with pre-concert talks at 2 p.m.

“Jazz on 2nd Sundays” includes performances by Buffalo jazz legends and special guests such as George Caldwell, Bobby Militello, Don Menza and Sam Noto.

For the first concert on Oct. 9, Buffalo Jazz Collective artistic directors will pay tribute to the music of famed American Songbook composer Harold Arlen, a native of Buffalo.  Local jazz historian and author, Professor Chuck Mancuso, will give a special pre-concert talk on Arlen’s life and music.

Concerts will take place on Oct. 9, Nov. 13, Dec. 11, Feb. 12, March 12 and April 9. All concerts will take place at the Buffalo History Museum, 1 Museum Court, Buffalo.
