Busy holiday season underway at Bread of Life Outreach

Nov 8, 2019 | Events

The holiday calendar at the Bread of Life Outreach (BOLO) Center in Colden is dotted with a wide variety of family events in November and December.

The annual Pancake Breakfast will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10. Tickets are just $8, while kids 5 and under are free. The Masons’ Livingstone Lodge provides all the food and workers and donates all the profits to BOLO!

BOLO is also collecting new, warm mittens and hats for children as part of their Winter Warmup Campaign. You can drop donations off at BOLO, the Colden Market and Cafe, or Colden Town Hall. In conjunction with the Rural Outreach Center, BOLO will be distributing new coats, boots and snow pants this month.

The public is invited to join BOLO’s Colden Community Thanksgiving Service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26. This ecumenical service is open to everyone. Come join your neighbors in giving thanks to God as a community. Light refreshments will follow.

Did you know that you can help support BOLO when you shop on Amazon? Simply log on to Smile Amazon (instead of Amazon) and shop. Choose Bread of Life Outreach in Colden as your charity and BOLO will receive a portion of all purchases. It’s that easy! Prices and items are the same but you’re supporting BOLO while you shop.

BOLO also has an eBay online store. Catherine Cook has been the eBay guru and wants everyone to know about BOLO Treasures on eBay. There are gift items, clothing and accessories listed and all proceeds benefit BOLO. To find BOLO Treasures, simply click on Advance search at the top left of most eBay pages. On the left side of the page, under shops, click the Find Shops link. Enter BOLO Treasures and select “shops with matching items” in the search field, then shop away!

BOLO also has a new marketing director! Jim Belford is a local resident and has volunteered with the Mobile Food Pantry. He has extensive experience in marketing. Welcome, Jim!

Additionally, BOLO has a new Board of Directors. This talented group provides oversight of BOLO to assure that the organization is following the guidance of its mission statement. Board members include an attorney, accountant, retired physician, social worker, nurse, recreational therapist and educator. They are John and Linda Antowiak, Marty and Michelle McMahon, Ryan McCann, Doug Lum and Marcole Feuz.

BOLO’s Food Pantry is busy packing up the fixings for a Thanksgiving Meal for all pantry families. BOLO is very grateful to Orchard Park Presbyterian Church for providing the side dishes for this traditional meal.

Colden Community Farmers Market will host an indoor Winter Market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 and Saturday, Dec. 14. Shop inside for a great selection of local handcrafted items. Gabriel’s Closet Thrift Store will be open while the market is going on. Interested vendors can call 479-3878 for more information.
