Christmas in the Country to be virtual artisan market this year

Oct 30, 2020 | Arts & Culture

Christmas in the Country Holiday Artisan Market held at the Fairgrounds in Hamburg has been cancelled for 2020, but fortunately the event will reformat into a virtual shopping experience for patrons and artisans. The virtual event — Christmas in the Country at Home — will be held Saturday, Nov. 7 and Sunday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at https://my.boothcentral.com/v/events/christmas-in-the-country-at-home. Admission to the event is free!

“We had held on to hope that circumstances regarding COVID might change, but unfortunately they did not,” said Dan Kaczynski of Premier Promotions of WNY, organizers of the event. “This year has been so challenging for everyone and our hope is the virtual edition of Christmas in the Country can bring some holiday cheer to our patrons and artisans.”

The massive artisan market brings together over 450 small business artisans from across the country for a four-day shopping experience like no other. Unfortunately, according to Kaczynski, the vast majority of these artisans have been unable to participate in any events and therefore are largely without income.

Christmas in the Country at Home will feature almost 150 artisans who were originally scheduled to be at CITC and will include live video chats with artisans and a variety of ways to purchase directly from your favorite artisans. “You can not only make meaningful holiday purchases for your loved ones, but you will also help so many small businesses in the process.  And I can’t think of a better way to spread joy in 2020,” added Kaczynski.

In 2021, the 36th Christmas in the Country will open Thursday and Friday, Nov. 4 and 5, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day; Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in five buildings on the Fairgrounds in Hamburg.

For more than 36 years, Premier Promotions has produced high-quality, extremely successful artisan events including Springtime in the Country, Springtime in Rochester, Christmas in the Country, Christmas in the Country-Rochester and Yuletide in the Country. The events are consistently ranked among the Top 100 artisan shows in America by Sunshine Artist magazine. Last year, more than 90,000 visitors attended these events purchasing more than $4 million in high-quality, handcrafted goods from juried artists and artisans. These events have helped raise more than $1.8 million for Western New York charities.
