Dog Ears to host Pet Connection book event

Jan 9, 2018 | Events

What better named venue than Dog Ears Bookstore to host a book-signing event for a book about heartwarming dog and cat adoptions?

On Saturday, Jan. 20, the nonprofit community bookstore at 688 Abbott Road will host West Seneca author Joe Kirchmyer for a book-signing event from noon to 2 p.m. His fourth book, “My Pet Connection: Inspirational ‘Tails’ of Adoption” features personal stories from more than 80 individuals and families who have adopted dogs, cats, puppies and kittens from Pet Connection Programs Inc., a nonprofit maternity animal shelter located in Marilla. The book was released in late December by NFB Publishing in Buffalo.

“The idea for the book came as a result of working the popular Pet Connection booth, with my wife Maureen, at the Erie County Fair for the past several years,” Kirchmyer said. “People who have adopted from the shelter would come up to us, share stories about their pets and show us photos. I thought it would be a nice idea to collect those heartwarming stories and publish them in a book as a unique fundraiser for the shelter.

“The book should be of interested to anyone who has ever owned or loved a pet, and a portion of the proceeds from every book sold will benefit Pet Connection.”

The books are priced at $15.95 each (plus tax). For those who cannot attend the event, “My Pet Connection: Inspirational ‘Tails’ of Adoption” is also available for purchase online at www.nfbpublishing.com, amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com.
