Elmwood Village Winter Market at Buffalo State lists December 17 highlights

The Elmwood Village Winter Market at Buffalo State, an indoor version of the popular Elmwood Village Farmers Market, returns to Buckham Hall on the campus of SUNY Buffalo State, 1300 Elmwood Ave., from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 17. Stop in, stock up and buy local for the holidays!

The Winter Market will be closed for the holidays on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.

In addition to hosting nearly 20 quality vendors, entertainment is offered from approximately 10 to 11:30 a.m. Providing musical entertainment on Dec. 17 will be Porcelain Train. One group or organization from Buffalo State also hosts a weekly informational table, and the market is equipped to accept EBT customers as well.

Participating vendors include Alpine Made, Angel Cakes By Evin, Barrel & Brine, Belleview Farm, Biscotti for Everybotti, Blue Table Chocolates, Carla’s Crumby Creations, Darling Bee, Fetch! Gourmet Dog Treats, First Light Farm & Creamery, Go Veggies, Kindred Kreek Alpaca Farm, LynOaken Farms, Native Offerings Farm, Plato Dale Farm, Public Espresso + Coffee, and Rooted Locally.

New this year, students from Buffalo State’s Department of Health, Nutrition & Dietetics will participate in the market and will offer health and nutritional information and yoga classes during the season. A schedule for exercise and nutrition events will be released at a later date and will likely begin in January or February.

Buckham Hall is located on Rockwell Road near Grant Street. Free parking is available on campus during market hours, and Lot R-13 is recommended for convenience.

The Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium in Buckham Hall on the Buffalo State campus is also open on Saturdays during the market. Please visit www.fergusonplanetarium.net for more information.

Field & Fork Networkʼs “Double Up Food Bucks” program has returned for the indoor marketʼs second season, providing low-income individuals who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits with a $1 for $1 match, up to $20, to purchase fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables.

On Saturday, May 6, 2017, the Elmwood Village Farmers Market will return to its usual location at the intersection of Elmwood Avenue and Bidwell Parkway in Buffaloʼs historic Elmwood Village. Both markets are a program of the Elmwood Village Association.
