Enjoy the Journey Art Gallery lists upcoming events

Nov 1, 2016 | Arts & Culture

Unique exhibits, classes and workshops dot the pre-holiday calendar at Enjoy the Journey Art Gallery, located at 1168 Orchard Park Road in West Seneca.

November’s exhibit, “The Universe Series” with artist Virginia Koeppel, introduces her mosaic glassworks. “The universe only exists in the intellect of humans,” said the artist. “It encompasses the galaxies and planets but it’s energy exists in every plant, animal and human and can be as minuscule as a single cell. My Universe Series in glass includes the Earth’s genesis as well as space. We can merely try to replicate its beauty.”  An opening reception will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, and the exhibit will remain on display through Nov. 26.

A basket-weaving class with Maureen Quale will be offered from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8. On this evening each student must choose in advance their favorite basket to work on – market basket, wastebasket or a mini market basket. The cost varies from $35 to $40 per basket; all basket supplies are included.

The popular Wine, Women & Art with Andrea Oswald returns from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10. At this WWA the ladies will be creating an 11 x 14 canvas of a “Fall Moonlit Evening.” All art supplies, wine and goodies are included in the price of $30 per person. Check the gallery’s website for the canvas photo.

Zentangle – Triskele (or triple spiral) with artist and certified Zentangle® teacher Kelly Barone is scheduled from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17. The Triskele is a Celtic and pre-Celtic symbol found throughout history with many meanings. Not to take anything away from those meanings, it is also a beautiful, symmetrical piece of geometry. The 3D creations of Triskele adds a fun dimension with a great deal of depth. When combined with Zentangle art, it creates a beautiful centerpiece, ornament or mobile. Zentangle 101 is a prerequisite class. Bring your supply kit; the cost is $35 per student.

An alcohol inks workshop with artist and potter Sara Goldhawk of Goldhawk Pottery will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. Participants will learn how use alcohol inks and create the most amazing artwork! Guests will create four tiles plus jewelry pieces at this workshop. Each student is asked to bring three colors of Jacquard Alcohol Inks in their favorite colors, plus a few other supplies listed on the gallery’s website. The cost is $35.

Awesome Polymer Clay Holiday Ornaments with artist Rosanna Cappellino takes place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22. Create your own one-of-a-kind heirloom piece of artwork – a polymer clay ornament which is created over a pancake-round glass bulb.  The gallery’s website has three fabulous faces for your ornament on display, so check them out!  All supplies are included in the $40 fee.
