“Full House” fans went crazy on social media this past April when it was announced not only a spinoff of the beloved family sitcom was in the works, but many of the original cast members would be involved in the new Netflix series.

“The response from the fans is incredible,” said Dave Coulier, who is happy to be playing his character “Joey Gladstone” again for “Fuller House.” “We’re two stages over from where we shot the original. It’s really exciting.”

The cast became very close in the eight seasons the show filmed in the late ’80s and early ’90s. Their chemistry not only allowed America to fall in love with them, it allowed them to reach a success they never imagined.

“I always equate show business to NHL hockey,” hockey-lover Coulier said. “I feel like [with “Full House”] we won the Stanley Cup, I feel like we were undefeated one season and I feel like I was an all-star at one point.

“I look back and think, ‘Wow, I had a really nice run’ if it were pro sports, but I’m in my 50s and I’m still doing it. How lucky am I that I am still playing my sport every day.”

Coulier’s career goes outside of his “Joey Gladstone” persona – as he acted in many television shows and movies, and has been performing live comedy for decades – but he always includes the beloved show in his stand-up acts.

“I talk about ‘Full House’ right at the top of my set,” he said. “I talk about the show, my experiences and a little about the cast. It’s something the fans want to hear.”

Fans in Buffalo will be able to see Coulier’s stand-up next month when he takes the stage at Helium Comedy Club, located at 30 Mississippi St. in Buffalo

“I’ve been around Buffalo many times,” he said. “I have a good friend from Buffalo and I’ve been to a Sabres game at the new arena. I hope I run into Scotty Bowman!”

His show – which he said is eclectic, pretty clean and includes something for everybody – is a preview for a special he’s filming called “Glorified Birthday Clown” that will be released early next year.

Coulier will take the stage at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, as well as 7:30 and 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 and Saturday, Oct. 17.

Fans will have the opportunity to meet Coulier after the show as well. “I will sign anything people buy after the shows.” Many people like to purchase his fan gear – including “Cut It Out” and “Mr. Woodchuck” shirts – from the store on his website, www.davecoulier.com.

Tickets are $20 general admission and $28 reserved. To purchase tickets or to learn more, visit www.heliumcomedy.com/buffalo.
