Hamburg Farmers’ Market patrons help raise funds for VALOR food pantry

Aug 28, 2020 | Lifestyles

Thanks to the efforts of Jane Graham, VALOR food pantry has received over $6,600 so far this year from patron mask purchases at the Hamburg Farmers’ Market.

Jane hand makes each tri-layered cloth masks that she has been selling at the Hamburg Farmers’ Market for the last couple of months. All the proceeds she receives is sent directly to VALOR food pantry, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides food for veterans and their families on an immediate basis.

Recently, the CARES Act has offered to match donations dollar for dollar. Each week Jane roughly collects over $1,000.

Masks are required before entering the farmers’ market, so Jane has a space right at the entrance for those who do not have one on them. They can purchase a mask knowing their entire payment goes to the food pantry.

“We are honored Jane asked if she could be part of the market to try to help raise funds for VALOR and we are so proud of our market patrons who have no problem contributing to such a great cause. They wear their masks with pride,” said Jamie Decker, market manager.

The masks have different designs including Bills and Sabres themes and come in different sizes for adults and children. Jane plans on selling the masks until the market ends in October.

The market is located at the Hamburg Moose Lodge, 45 Church St. in Hamburg, and is open every Saturday, rain or shine through Oct. 31, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
