Lovable. Cuddly. Sweet.
Those are the words that volunteers at the SPCA of Niagara use to best describe a two-year-old pup named Harvey.
“I haven’t met anyone yet that hasn’t fallen in love with him,” said Pat McMahon. “When you take him outside and get your first hug from him … he’s just incredible.”
Harvey was brought to the SPCA in late January and it’s a wonder to McMahon as to why he hasn’t been adopted yet. While he does jump in his kennel when people pass him by, when he gets outside and is away from all the commotion, he’s just your typical lovable dog.
“All he wants to do is cuddle and snuggle. It’s his favorite,” said McMahon.
The first thing Harvey likes to do when he’s with the volunteers is give hugs. He puts his paw up on your shoulders and then he likes to sit on your lap and watch the traffic go by. He doesn’t pull when he goes for walks and he is so gentle and sweet with everyone he meets.
“Anyone that knows Harvey is in love with him and that doesn’t come across in the kennel, which is the sad part for most of the dogs, but even more so with him,” said McMahon.
Harvey is a great size for someone looking for a best friend that’s not too big and not too small. He’s the perfect gentleman and loves to give his paw for treats without even being asked. He needs to go to a home with no other animals or small children and would make a great companion for someone that’s seeking a true best friend in their life.
“He could truly bring so much joy to someone,” said McMahon. “You can’t possibly understand what he’s like just by looking at him. He’s cute and adorable, but you really have to take him out and meet him to see what he’s all about.”
The adoption fee for Harvey is $135 and includes microchip, up-to-date shots, and one free vet visit. To learn more about adopting sweet Harvey, please call the SPCA of Niagara at 731-4368.
