Local home improvement company offers helpful winterization tips

Jan 8, 2018 | In the News

This winter season has seen no shortage of snow, cold temperatures and wind, factors that have many home and business owners second-guessing the efficiency and quality of their windows, doors and insulation.

“It’s been a very difficult winter, and we’re seeing an increase in calls from homeowners, real estate investors and contractors about everything from drafty windows and doors to adding insulation,” said Justin Santonocito, owner of All Pro Services of WNY. “While starting a home improvement or remodeling project is a relatively simple process, even in winter, just be certain you are dealing with a fully licensed and insured company. Doing a little research about a company, and asking family and friends for references, is a good place to begin.”

If drafts are seeping through windows and doors, Santonocito recommends some short-term solutions that can help get you through the winter months.

“Applying caulk and/or weather stripping around problem areas is a quick and inexpensive remedy that can achieve immediate results,” said Santonocito. “While it’s not a long-term solution, it can buy you some time until you’re ready to invest in new windows and doors that will improve your home’s energy efficiency and overall value.”

With furnaces working overtime, Santonocito also recommends replacing your furnace’s air filter to improve energy efficiency. And to avoid frozen pipes, insulate any exposed pipes with easy-to-install insulation wraps that can be purchased at any hardware store.

“When hiring a contractor, look for a company that is committed to quality and stands behind their work,” added Santonocito. “At All Pro Services of WNY, we show up when we say we will, we do our work the right way the first time, and we treat your home like it’s our home.”
