‘Micro Brewed Murder’ author to visit Dog Ears Bookstore

Jan 26, 2016 | Entertainment

Bill Metzger, author of “Micro Brewed Murder,” will visit Dog Ears Bookstore & Café from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, for a book-signing event and a discussion about his novel.

Metzger moved into Buffalo’s Old First Ward neighborhood in 2007. Since that time he has worked in the community, building several businesses and serving on the Old First Ward Community Center board of directors.

Metzger’s passion for writing and his love of craft beer induced him to begin a business as a brewing newspaper publisher. He now owns eight beer publications that cover the news in 43 states and three Canadian provinces. In addition, he is a partner in Old First Ward Brewing, created as part of Gene McCarthy’s Brewery & Kitchen.

A writer for 35 years, his first published novel, “Micro Brewed Murder,” is a distillation of his experiences in the brewing industry. In addition, he has two more novels under contract to be published in 2016.

After having served in the Peace Corps in the late 1970s, Metzger traveled extensively in Central and South America. During that time he became interested in another sort of brewing: coffee. Numerous visits to Central American coffee plantations have led him to his interest in opening Undergrounds Coffee House & Roastery, scheduled to open in 2016.
