Middle school students host activities at Women & Children’s Hospital

Apr 2, 2017 | Lifestyles

West Seneca East Middle School National Junior Honor Society students met at Women & Children’s Hospital on Saturday, March 25, to provide activities for the Stones Buddies program.

Families and their children came together at the hospital to take part in East Middle’s “Seeds of Hope” activities, where the students worked with children to plant a variety of vegetables for the hospital’s garden. Families were able to plant cucumbers, carrots and a variety of other vegetables. They also painted rocks that they can use to decorate the garden. Some other fun projects included making flower pens and grass head pots to take with them.

This is not the first event that the NJHS students organized with Women & Children’s Hospital. Advisors Elissa Gianadda and Kelly Page helped the students organize a blanket-making activity around Christmas. Students collected money through student/faculty dress down days, purchased fabric and made blankets for the children to have while staying at the hospital. The students are excited to continue working with the children and plan to host other events for the hospital in the future.
