Mount Mercy announces Students of the Month

Feb 25, 2023 | Lifestyles

The Mount Mercy Academy Guidance Department has initiated a Student of the Month program to recognize deserving students. The criteria for the honor is showing leadership in the school and community and demonstrating the core values of what it means to be a Mount Mercy student each and every day. They also reflect awareness of the Critical Concerns of the Sisters of Mercy, the school’s sponsoring body.

Recognized for the month of February were freshman Marianna Acosta (Buffalo), sophomore Isabelle Reaska (West Seneca), junior Vayana Stoyanova (Gowanda) and senior Samantha Benes (Buffalo).
One of Acosta’s nominators wrote: “Marianna should be nominated because she is kind and caring and is always willing to help a friend in need. She is the light in the darkness that makes the world a better place.”

A nominator of Reaska stated: “Isabelle should be nominated because she is a leader and friendly to all. She is always welcoming and has a smile on her face.”

“Vayana is a clear example of what a Mercy Girl should be. She is kind, caring and compassionate. She helps and encourages everyone,” stated a nominator of Stoyanova.

One of Benes’ nominators had these words to say: “Sam is always nice to underclassmen and is always willing to help other people out. She is a true Mercy girl.”
