Aug 30, 2017 | Arts & Culture

The Niagara Frontier Doll Club will mark a significant milestone when it hosts its 30th annual Doll Show & Sale from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, in the University at Buffalo Center for Tomorrow on Flint Road in Amherst.

The event will feature antique and collectible dolls and bears, handmade dolls, doll clothing, supplies, furniture and accessories, miniatures and a special historical display of Girl Scout dolls! Other highlights will include door prizes and a freebie table, and the theme of the event is “Local women empowering local women.” Admission is just $5, with children under 12 free.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Stella Niagara Women’s Respite Program (WRP) and the Lt. Col. Matt Urban Human Services Center of WNY. The WRP was founded in 1989 to provide respite to single mothers with low income. The program has since expanded to include retreats for all mothers with low income, grandmothers raising grandchildren, women with cancer and alumnae of previous retreats.

Located on Buffalo’s East Side, the Matt Urban Center is a multi-faceted agency providing housing services, senior services, senior apartments, a weatherization program, youth and family services, homeless outreach services, GED and work skills training, crime victims assistance and three food pantries.

The Niagara Frontier Doll Club is a member of the United Federation of Doll Clubs.
