Octogenarian poet to visit Dog Ears Bookstore on March 24

Mar 9, 2017 | Events

Octogenarian poet Frances Kulik will visit Dog Ears Bookstore & Café from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 24, to sign copies of her first book of poetry, “God’s Pencil.” The nonprofit community bookstore is located at 688 Abbott Road in South Buffalo.

“Being the patriarch of my family, with no children, I decided that all I had as a legacy was my ability to write and rhyme,” said the newly published author. “I graduated from Mount Mercy Academy, but regrettably never went to college. I took a lot of night courses to learn about things I was interested in and read many books. Other than the many commercials which I wrote, I have had other things published. The Voice of Music was a column published in the Hamburg Sun newspaper. I also wrote for the New-News periodical when I worked at WBEN radio. Recently, some of my essays were seen in The Buffalo News. I am currently working on two books, a children’s holiday book and the story of my youngest sister.”

Published by No Frills Buffalo publishing company, “God’s Pencil is a lifetime collection of poetry, verse and thoughts that have been waiting to be given back to the world,” Kulik added. “I feel that God wanted me to write these words so people could see feelings, instead of just holding them inside. Most readers can identify with my words because they think and feel them, but perhaps can’t say them.”

The March 24 event is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. For more information on the bookstore, please visit http://dogearsbookstore.org, call 823-2665 or follow Dog Ears on Facebook for frequent updates.
