Pumpkin Drop and Pumpkin Olympics highlight this weekend at the Great Pumpkin Farm’s Fall Festival

Oct 7, 2016 | Entertainment

What happens when you drop a 1,000-pound pumpkin 100 feet from a 50-foot crane? Why, it’s obvious: Contestants scramble among the carnage looking to find one of the 98 numbered tokens within the 15-minute timeframe so they can win great prizes!

It’s all part of the annual Kiss 98.5 Pumpkin Drop at the Fall Festival at the Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence, and it takes place at noon on Monday, Oct. 10. And if you’ve never witnessed a pumpkin dropped from that height, smash to the ground and explode into millions of tiny pieces, make this the year you visit the Great Pumpkin Farm to see it in person!  Visit www.kiss985.com for more information and complete rules.

In addition to the Pumpkin Drop, the Pumpkin Farm Olympics will also take place Saturday, Sunday and Monday, with hourly events including the Pumpkin Relay, Pumpkin Dash, the Skeleton Hunt and the Pumpkin Leap. There’s something for everyone, and you can join in the fun individually or as a team. Olympic-style medals will be awarded for each event.

Please note that the regular weekend Fall Festival admission fee of $7 per person will also apply Monday, Oct. 10. Children two and under are admitted free, and discounted tickets can be purchased at any Buffalo or Rochester area Wegmans. Fall Festival hours are 10 a.m. to dusk.
