The SPCA Serving Erie County is now welcoming readers into its 2023-2024 Tale for Two program, encouraging children ages five through 16 to read aloud to adoptable animals at the SPCA!

The connection and companionship experienced during a Tale for Two session is unlike any other. Shelter animals benefit from increased socialization and reduced stress levels, while children work on literacy and reading skills, building self-esteem and confidence.

Half-hour weekly sessions take place at the SPCA’s 300 Harlem Road, West Seneca location Mondays or Wednesdays, 5 to 6:30 p.m. Children can bring their own reading materials or select from the SPCA’s library.

This year’s reading season begins Oct. 2 and runs through Sept. 4, 2024. Sessions are available in three-month packages ($60), as a school-season package ($95) or as a full-year package ($145).
