Students take part in Girls on the Run program

Dec 13, 2015 | Lifestyles

Sixth, seventh and eighth grade girls from West Seneca West Middle School recently met from 2:30 to 4 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday for 10 weeks as part of Girls on the Run. The club followed a curriculum that promoted confidence, connection, caring, character and competence.

At each practice, the girls participated in a classroom lesson and physical activity. Each week was connected to the previous week’s theme, building upon the components of the girls wheel (heart, brain, body, social and spirit).

Members of Girls on the Run attended the West Seneca Central School District Board of Education meeting on Monday, Dec. 7, to share what they learned in their 10 weeks together, as well as a slideshow of their practices and accomplishments.

In the photo are Girls on the Run participants Rachel Rechichi, Grace Vanderlip, Chloe Wegelin, Angelina Harper, Madailein Blonski, Aoife Clune, Ally Wood and Ava Hickok with Superintendent Dr. Mark Crawford at the WSCSD BOE meeting that was held on Dec. 7.
