Main Street Marketplace, West Seneca’s popular open-air farmers’ and food producers’ marketplace sponsored by the Western New York Federal Credit Union, continues on Thursday, Aug. 25. The weekly event takes place from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday evenings through Sept. 1 on the grassy hill at the corner of Union Road and Main Street, next to West Seneca Town Hall.
The outdoor venue features approximately 25 vendors selling a wide variety of products. Black Dog Second Chance and the West Seneca Coalition will host the market’s community group tables on Aug. 25. The market will also host an open jam session from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Anyone with an instrument is invited to come out and play for fun and tips.
Highlights of Kids’ Day will include “Storytime with Elsa” from 5 to 6:15 p.m., a “Hula Hoop Contest” at 5:30 p.m., and a “Family Fun Zone Game Challenge” from 6 to 7 p.m. where kids can challenge market managers to a game of checkers, Connect Four, Giant Jenga or bean bag toss for a chance to win a prize. Several vendors will also be offering special attractions or discounts, and other surprises are still being planned.
While some picnic tables are provided at the market, guests are invited to bring a blanket or chairs for their comfort. Well-behaved dogs are allowed on a leash. The market is rain or shine; in the event of unfavorable weather conditions, the market moves into the parking lot in front of the West Seneca Ice Rink.
